Rising Star-Red Berry Photography:

When we received this Rising Star entry from Alexandra of Red Berry Photography, we knew that we had to feature it on the blog.  These little guys, the colors, and pure sweetness in this session is so precious.  Here’s a little bit about Alexandra and how she was inspired for this session:

Like many photographers, I began seriously studying the “science” of photography when my children were young. I wanted a way to document the precious moments that were all to quickly slipping away. My journalism and public relations background were a natural jumping off point, and with the mentorship of some wonderfully talented and generous established photographers, I was able to reach a skill level that allowed me to begin working with other families and grow a business that is literally something I couldn’t have imagined four years ago. My photos are fresh, fun & full of colorful elements. I want my images to be alive and a realistic documentation of emotion and life. When a mother tearfully thanks me for capturing her children in a way she didn’t imagine possible, I know that I have chosen the right path in life. There is no greater compliment to me than a return client and I am thrilled to be able to continue to be a part of their growing families.

Before each session, I ask my clients to share with me some small tidbits about their families and children so I can get to know them and hopefully help me develop some fun ideas for their session. For this particular session, mom told me about her sons’ love, fascination, and incredible knowledge of all things dinosaurs. We chose a location with tropical plants and fun, bright colors. I asked her to bring a few dinosaurs for the session and she brought them all…literally dozens and dozens of dino figures and books about pre-historic reptiles with names I can’t even begin to pronounce! Not only did we end up with some fabulous images, but I even learned a thing or two about dinosaurs from a 5 year old!
