Hi, my name is Janine and I am originally from New Zealand. I traveled overseas on a working holiday in my early twenties, met my soon to be husband and settled in Australia where we now live with our two boys and one dog.
Like most kids, I enjoyed taking happy snaps of all sorts of things. I’m sure my mother was pained at the thought of the money spent on developing all the film. I don’t have many pictures of me growing up and I know this is one of the reasons my love for photography exploded once our first son was born.
My website was launched in 2010 and looking back, I was not prepared to be in business. I was building the plane while trying to fly it (as a photographer friend once said). It has been quite a journey since then and one that continues to challenge and inspire me every. day.
Family photography is what makes me happiest. I love the simple moments in our every day (you can see a lot of ours documented on my blog). I believe that you don’t need a lot of fuss and stress in preparing for family photos.
When I can capture the true personality of a child and the parents express that to me, I’m over the moon. I would really love to take more documentary style photographs in and around peoples homes.
The photos below were taken in the hospital the day after Tyson was born. I was originally invited to document his birth but it didn’t happen as we had planned (as is often the case with birth).I love that I got to share in these quiet moments of connection between mother (a lovely friend) and son.
