Rising Star – Cassandra Plummer:

We absolutely adored a recent session that was submitted to us by the lovely Cassandra Plummer.
If you haven’t discovered her work until now, you’ll be so happy that you did.  This session proves that simple can be so much MORE!!!

Get to know Cassandra:

It’s a question that excites children and makes high school senior’s stomachs turn, ” What will you be when you grow up?”

In first grade I answered, “A dolphin trainer.” By high school, I filled in the blank with, “doctor or biologist.”  So there I sat in my freshman year of college on the pre-med track, doodling in class when my professor walked past, looked over my shoulder, and then sat down.  He looked at my doodles and said with a quizzical look, “Cassie, have you ever considered taking an art class?”  That doodle, that question changed the rest of my life.  Because what I considered to be just a hobby soon turned into a dream that for once excited my heart and made me feel like I was created to create.   As I built contraptions in sculpture, threw on the potter’s wheel, and even as I developed my first rolls of film…I had no idea that today I would be a photographer.  And that is what makes life so exciting.

Today, I live in Boston and specialize in children’s photography. Why children? Because they make my heart skip a beat faster.

Tips:
Start by capturing life as it happens and use poses to fill in the gaps. So many times I find myself trying to create “perfection” by coming up with perfect poses.  But perfection fails to capture the beautiful little quirks, sometimes goofy, sometimes gentle moments that are already happening during your sessions.  Beauty was never made to be pulled from a mold; it is organic and needs to be discovered.

This session was styled to be a simple, lazy summer evening at the beach.
